Ragtime Creative Team 2019

It’s an epic, devastatingly touching adaptation of E.L. Doctorow’s novel and our creative team are extremely conscious of how poignant the message of Ragtime is right now. An award winning team leads the largest cast in the history of the Mac-Haydn Theatre.

The Berkshire Award winning combination of John Saunders and Sebastiani Romagnolo join forces again to put their stamp on this majestic show. Romagnolo is very aware of the powerful messages Ragtime represents: “The American Dream, different for each of us, is defined by our race, our class, our origins. Ragtime is a gorgeous revelation of that fact. It reminds us that the struggle for equality is never finished and that ultimately, it is our differences that make a stronger and better world. If ever there were a time for this tale, now is it!”

Saunders is excited to bring Ragtime to the Mac-Haydn family: “I can’t wait to work with this all-star team on this epic show. I have no doubt that it will be the show event of the summer.”

Jimm Halliday returns to Ragtime, having won the Helen Hayes Award for Best Costume Design for his Kennedy Center production of the work. David Maglione carries the conductors baton, creating the musical world of this incredible score which he knows will leave a lasting impact on all that hear it.

Andrew Gmoser designs both sets and lighting for the first time this season, having created the visually stunning production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame last season.

Sound Designer Corbin White, Props Designer Joshua Gallagher and Hair & Makeup Designer Matthew Oliver team up again to fill out the turn of the century world of Ragtime.
