Newsies Makes Its Long-Awaited Mac-Haydn Debut
CHATHAM, NY (July 23, 2026)—The Mac-Haydn Theatre raises the banner on one of Broadway’s most exhilarating musicals as Disney’s Newsies makes its long-awaited Mac-Haydn debut. Opening this week as part of the theatre’s 2026 season, the Tony Award-winning musical brings breathtaking choreography, soaring anthems, and an inspiring true story to the Mac-Haydn stage for the very first time.
Directed and choreographed by Kaitlyn Frank, whose career includes extensive experience with Newsies both as a performer and creative artist, the production promises an authentic and electrifying take on the beloved musical. Frank returns after choreographing the acclaimed opening production of The Addams Family earlier this season.
Returning Mac-Haydn favorite Jared Goodwin stars as the determined Jack Kelly alongside Tzintli Cerda as the ambitious young reporter Katherine Plumber. Together, they lead one of the largest companies ever assembled on the Mac-Haydn stage, creating a production that matches the scale and energy audiences have come to expect from this Broadway favorite.
With its sweeping score, athletic choreography, and powerful message of courage and collective action, Newsies has become one of the most beloved musicals of the past two decades. “It’s a show that demands incredible talent, athleticism, and heart. Kaitlyn’s connection to this material, combined with this phenomenal cast, has resulted in a production that is as thrilling as it is inspiring.
