The Music of a Generation Comes to Life in Beautiful at Mac-Haydn Theatre
CHATHAM, NY (August 13, 2026)—The Mac-Haydn Theatre invites audiences to experience the extraordinary life and music of one of popular music’s most influential songwriters as Beautiful: The Carole King Musical opens this week.
Featuring the beloved songs of Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, and other legendary hitmakers, Beautiful follows King’s journey from a young songwriter in Brooklyn to one of the most celebrated recording artists of her generation. Filled with unforgettable music and a story of ambition, friendship, love, and finding your own voice, the musical features such iconic songs as “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “It’s Too Late,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” and “On Broadway.”
Hannah Shankman stars as Carole King, bringing the legendary songwriter’s journey to life on the Mac-Haydn stage. A seasoned Broadway performer, Shankman’s credits include Wicked, Les Misérables, Hair, and Side Show. She most recently starred as Fanny Brice in the national tour of Funny Girl.
Hannah is joined by three familiar Mac-Haydn performers, Michael Daly (Mr. Hart, 9 to 5), Kevin Egan (Archibald, The Secret Garden), and Caitlin Wilayto (Doralee, 9 to 5), who round out the iconic foursome. The production is directed by Eoghan Hartley, who directed 9 to 5 earlier season, with choreography by Bella DePaola.
