Mac-Haydn Theatre Announces World Premiere of Beehive: The 70s Musical
New Partnership with TRW Production Marks Milestone for the Historic Theatre
Chatham, NY (May 15, 2025)—The Mac-Haydn Theatre is thrilled to announce the world premiere of Beehive: The 70s Musical, a brand-new musical celebrating the iconic female voices and unforgettable music of the 1970s. This exciting new work is being produced in partnership with TRW Production and marks a historic milestone as the first original production ever developed and premiered by the Mac-Haydn Theatre.
Following its debut at Mac-Haydn, Beehive: The 70s Musical will be made available for licensing exclusively through Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW).
“We are honored to partner with TRW to bring this new musical to life,” said John Saunders, Producing Artistic Director of the Mac-Haydn Theatre. “To be creating and premiering an original work for the first time in our history is a thrilling leap forward for our organization and for our incredible artistic community.”
Michael McFadden, Executive Producer at TRW Production, added, “We’re proud to collaborate with Mac-Haydn on Beehive: The 70s Musical— this celebration of music and culture perfectly aligns with our development mission to produce fresh, dynamic new musicals.”
A companion to the beloved Beehive: The 60s Musical, this new show explodes with the empowering spirit, seismic social change, and bold fashion of the 1970s—all driven by an unforgettable soundtrack. Audiences will groove to classics made famous by artists such as Linda Rondstadt, Heart, Gloria Gaynor, and many more, in a high-energy celebration of sisterhood, self-expression, and song.
The production will be brought to life by director and choreographer, Bryan Knowlton and associate, Elizabeth McGuire. Both are veterans to the Mac-Haydn stage, Knowlton staged the 60s Beehive at the theatre in 2021. Fred Stuart has created the book with musical arrangements by George Luton.
Beehive: The 70s Musical will run September 12–21 at the Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham, NY. Tickets and additional information are available at https://www.machaydntheatre.org. For licensing inquiries, visit https://www.theatricalrights.com.
