Developing The Next Generation

Contributing To The Growth of Aspiring Theatre Makers

Since 1969, it has been part of the Mac-Haydn Theatre’s mission to cultivate young talent for careers in the theater industry. The Mac-Haydn Theatre 2024 Education Programs aim to benefit youth in the Capital Region and beyond – educating children in the theatrical arts, giving hands-on, real world experiences to young people in the hope of developing their talent, interest in and passion for the performing arts.

Musician’s Apprenticeship

The Mac-Haydn endeavors to provide young musicians from the Capital Region the chance to immerse in our musical process alongside our professional musical staff and musicians. Apprentices will be given the opportunity to observe, question, interact with, and in some cases perform with our musical team. This opportunity will allow aspiring musicians to absorb and take part in the complex process of producing the orchestral elements of a musical in a regional professional company.

Dates: Various opportunities from May 31 – September 15, 2024

Candidates will be considered by recommendation from Capital Region “Mentors”, that being high school and youth band leaders, music teachers and other musical leaders.

After School Program for Actors

Students will be tutored in preparing their acting, singing and dance work specifically as it relates to Musical Theater. They will also receive instruction in body and speech as well as an introduction to the Business elements of the industry including insights into auditioning, branding and branching out to other departments within the industry.

Program dates and application details are currently being finalized and will be updated in the coming weeks. Please check back here, join our mailing list or follow us on social media for updates.

Dates: September 5 – 16, 2023
