Seeking Musicians

Mac-Haydn Theatre (Chatham, NY) is seeking the following instrumentalists for the upcoming 2023 summer season. In hopes of engaging with musicians in the Hudson Valley and Albany area, local artists are encouraged to apply. Dates and titles for each position are listed below.

    Drummer/Percussionist: June 18 – September 18 (Full season)

  • $500/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing
  • Please note that MHT does not have a house drum kit. The musician will need to provide the essentials: Kick, Snare, Toms, HighHat, Cymbals, and Hardware. “Specialty Instruments” and Auxiliary Percussion will be provided per show, as needed.
    Cello: July 17 – July 31 (The Sound of Music)

  • $475/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing
    Guitar: July 3 – July 17 (Footloose); July 31 – August 14 (Godspell); August 14 – September 4 (Jersey Boys); September 4 – September 18 (The Marvelous Wonderettes)

  • $475/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing
    Trumpet: June 18 – July 2 (42nd Street); September 4 – September 18 (Jersey Boys)

  • $475/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing
    Trombone: June 18 – July 2 (42nd Street)

  • $475/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing
    Flute/Picc: July 17 – July 31 (The Sound of Music)

  • $475/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing
    Clarinet: July 17 – July 31 (The Sound of Music)

  • $475/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing
    Reed (Flute, Baritone Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax): September 4 – September 18 (The Marvelous Wonderettes)

  • $475/wk + $75 travel stipend and housing

Housing

Housing is available in Chatham for those from outside the region.


MHT is a wonderful place for those looking to build their resume, play a lot of music, gain experience, and build relationships with other musicians. Please submit a cover letter outlining related experience and a sample of your playing to music@machaydntheatre.org. Your submission will be reviewed by Eric Shorey, who will contact select applicants for an interview. Please include the instrument in the subject of your email.

We are located 2 hours north of NYC and nestled between The Catskill Mountains and The Berkshires. We are producing 6 mainstage musicals as part of our 2023 Summer Season.
