Mackenzie McCarthy

Mac-Haydn Theatre Debut

Mackenzie McCarthy is an up and coming saxophonist and woodwind doubler who recently got her Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. A student of Donny McCaslin, Ingrid Jensen, and Darcy James Argue, she leads groups around New York City, played all over the northeast, and even gotten to play at the infamous Birdland Jazz Club with the Grace Fox Big Band. Mackenzie has also gotten to play with Joel Frahm, John Benitez, in a big band under the direction of Jim McNeely at MSM. Originally from Granite Bay, California, Mackenzie got her undergraduate degree from CSU Sacramento, studying with Mike McMullen and Brian Landrus. She also had the opportunity to play with Wayne Bergeron.
