Pay What You Can
Pay What You Can

From its inception in 1969, the Mac-Haydn has made accessibility to the arts a core focus of our mission. We believe that equity and inclusion start with access. With our highest ticket price at $45.00, we set the cost barrier lower than any other professional musical theater producer in the region.

However, we want to do more to provide access to the experience of live theater, which is why we’re introducing the PAY WHAT YOU CAN initiative. For one night only, ticket prices don’t exist – you decide what to contribute to attend the performance.

PAY WHAT YOU CAN for Forever Plaid will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at 7:00pm.

Patrons who wish to PAY WHAT YOU CAN for FOREVER PLAID may do one of the following:
Call the box office from 3pm onward on Wednesday, Sepetemeber 28.

Patrons who wish to PAY WHAT YOU CAN for XANADU may do one of the following:

Please note that this performance will have a limited number of tickets available for the PAY WHAT YOU CAN initiative. Patrons MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF VACCINATION and photo ID upon entry. MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL PATRONS.

Help Us Navigate This Unprecedented Time

In this time of uncertainty, one thing that is clear is that the future of performing arts organizations across the world is in jeopardy. The Mac-Haydn Theatre is no exception and we must appeal to your generosity at this vital time.

Our defining phrase for the 2020 Season was “Bold Vision, Bright Future”. Though our bold vision has become clouded, it is critical that our bright future does not.

To allow the theatre to weather this unprecedented event in our fifty one seasons, we have established the Bright Future Fund in collaboration with GoFundMe.

Our goal of $250,000 represents 20% of our regular yearly operating expenses. Contributions to this fund will cover the cost of maintaining our facilities, retaining our staff at reduced salaries and preparing for our reopening in 2021.

The future of the Mac-Haydn, and our remarkable family of theatre practitioners, depends upon you. We hope you will consider making a contribution.

Alumni Spotlight: Jelani Alladin

Jelani Alladin (Mac-Haydn, 2011) talks to us about creating the role of Kristoff in Broadway’s Frozen, working for Disney and the audition process.

Jelani you recently had the opportunity to originate a role in a Broadway show! What about that experience differed from your expectations?

Bringing to life a character in the biggest animation hit of all time is no small task. I was never expecting it to be easy, but I could have never imagined the great number of challenges in trying to honor what people know and love about the character and blend it with my own identity as an artist. I was lucky that Kristoff and I meet in many places, but there were some that we didn’t. I had to rise to the occasion!

The Lynne Haydn Memorial Fund

Remembering our founder Lynne Haydn.

If there’s one thing Lynne loved, it was the theatre filled with an audience having a wonderful experience. It was her vision and tenacity that allowed the Mac-Haydn to produce 50 years of outstanding theatre right in the heart of Columbia County. Ticket prices alone do not cover all the theatre’s expenses, and it is only with the generous support of friends like you that the theatre is able to grow and flourish.

Please consider making a donation in Lynne’s memory and we will continue to honor her and Linda’s lasting legacy on stage each day.

Remembrance of Lynne at The Mac-Haydn Theatre

Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 am.

We have been so moved by the many tributes and stories that people have shared with us over recent weeks and we would love to hear more. Please send your funny and inspiring stories to eledford@machaydntheatre.org. We will be reading as many of them as we can at the service as well as compiling a memory book in Lynne’s honor. Lynne meant the world to so many people and the stories are endless – thank you for sharing them! We also would love to see your pictures so send those along too!

If you plan on attending the memorial, please RSVP to Dee Lashway at dlashway@machaydntheatre.org and let her know how many will be attending.

This is a Test of the News Page
Here is the Alt Text

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
