AND THE NUMBER 1 REASON FOR JOINING THE MAC-HAYDN TEAM:

We’re looking for the very best people we can find - aren’t you one of them?

Spend your summer learning while doing theatre!

We’re looking for:

Full season company, also jobbers for specific roles
Principals, Performers, Interns*

Leading men and women, ingénues, character performers

Vocal ability: legitimate musical theatre voices,
Triple-threats as well as singers who move and dancers who sing
Versatility is a big plus!

To perform in:
Main stage shows, where everyone is considered for roles
Children’s theatre shows, where performers and interns play leads
Backstage Coffee House, Friday and Saturday nights
End-of-season Cabaret

Our core company is hired for the full season.  Everyone performs in all the shows during the length of their contract, from ensemble work through having the chance to play supporting, featured or even leading roles.  We do sometimes job in people for very specific roles.

* Principal performers play leading or featured roles, and may job in for only one or a few shows.
* Performers make up the resident company for the season.  Our shorthand for their position is Actor-Tech, as these people perform in all of the shows, but also do get assigned to help with either a tech department or theatre support job for a small part of the schedule.  Everyone in the company is considered for the roles that are available in each show, and in almost all cases everyone gets to add at least one, frequently more named roles to their resume.  In past seasons these have included Emma and Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde, Rooster and Lily in Annie, Tuptim and Lun Tha in The King and I, all of the featured characters in Grease, Julie and Carrie in Carousel, and many more.  Actor-Techs also perform in one or two children’s theatre shows during the summer, in a leading or featured role.

* Interns are part of the resident company, performing in all shows, and in one or more children’s theatre shows.  Interns are considered for roles.  They also are assigned to the tech or support jobs.

Auditions will be held in March -- information will be posted as soon as arrangements are finalized.  To be considered for an appointment, please send a resume to Casting, The Mac-Haydn Theatre, Inc., P.O. Box 204, Chatham, NY, 12037. Email submissions will not be accepted. Open calls will also be held in NYC and in Chatham.

Want to immerse yourself in musical theatre, gaining all the benefits that doing seven big musicals in one summer will bring?  We’ve been helping young professionals advance their careers with a top-notch training ground of high-quality musicals since 1969. We are a 350-seat, non-Equity theatre just over 2 hours from New York City, in the scenic rural yet urbane small town of Chatham, NY. You will work with Equity Guest Artists and other professionals whose experience includes major international tours and venues, all the way up to Broadway.  A few roles are pre-cast, but some of those filled by company members last summer included Grace, Lily and Rooster in Annie, Tuptim and Lun Tha in The King and I, Utterson, Lucy and Emma in Jekyll & Hyde, all of the leading and featured roles in Grease, and Julie, Louise, Carrie, Enoch and Jigger in Carousel. There’s lots of stage time with 15 performances per show; and there is regular time off. Everyone makes fantastic contacts with directors and designers from New York City and across the country. Competitive salaries, housing provided.

The 2012 season runs May 24 (rehearsals start May 14) through September 16; there is some flexibility to accommodate school schedules. Shows under consideration at this writing include: West Side Story, Copacabana, State Fair, Nunsense, Legally Blonde, Oliver, and other great classic and contemporary musicals.
