2008 Season Welcome to our Ruby Jubilee 40th anniversary season! Can you believe it? We can't either, but yes, this is the 40th year since the exciting venture of a summer musical theatre in Chatham first began. For this special season we’ve planned everything you love at MHT: music, dancing, laughter and romancing in a fantastic mix of shows including four of the top survey requests, and a show so brand new for us we can’t even tell you the name right now. This is the season you won’t want to miss a moment of as you help us celebrate 40 years of The Mac-Haydn Theatre! May 22 - June 1
On July 10, 1969, the lights came up on My Fair Lady, and it is only fitting that this season opens with this wonderful show. The Lerner & Loewe classic is the endearing Pygmalion story with an inimitable score that includes: “I Could Have Danced All Night, On The Street Where You Live, Get Me To The Church On Time.”
June 5-15
Seven guys + seven girls = one delightful show that’s a rambunctious, rousing good time! There’s high-stepping hi-jinks from start to finish, with lusty dancing and sweet, happy songs such as "Goin’ Courtin’, Sobbin’ Women, Bless Your Beautiful Hide."
June 19-29
One Singular Sensation! The record-setting Broadway hit is the ultimate theatre show, filled with emotion, candor, exceptional dancing and stunningly personal songs: At The Ballet, Music and the Mirror, Dance 10 Looks 3, What I Did For Love. The show thrilled audiences in it’s first Mac-Haydn presentation - do you remember what year that was?
July 3-20
See Tracy become a Teen Idol, Seaweed and the Dy-no-mites dance on national TV, Edna and Wilbur Turnblat reaffirm their love, and Velma and Amber get what they deserve in this non-stop fun show filled with the '60's sounds you still rock to the beat of!
July 24 - August 3
This powerful and romantic new telling of the classic, touching story, was a marvel when we presented the area premiere in our 25th anniversary season. What better time to bring back the glorious music, the soaring, lilting, and moving songs such as: Melodie of Paris, Home, You Are My Own, You Are Music than to celebrate our 40th year?
August 7-17
Get ready to tilt your hat, snap your gum and spin your rope in this follies-style spectacular filled with the wit, wisdom and one-of-a-kind humor of the famous entertainer, toe-tapping tap dancing and happy, tuneful songs: “Will-A-Mania, No Man Left For Me, It’s A Boy, Look Around.”
August 21-31
The delightful family favorite that ended our 1969 season. Rodgers & Hammerstein’s enduring classic will charm you all over again, from the uplifting title song to the last soaring notes of Climb Every Mountain. The amazing true story is filled with hum-along songs: “The Sound of Music, Do-Re-Mi, Lonely Goatherd, 16 Going On 17.”
