AUDITIONS IN CHATHAM Children (12 years of age and under): Sunday, March 30, 1:00 to 4 p.m. (Please do not arrive before 12 noon!) Chatham Methodist Church, Kinderhook Street, Chatham Please have a song prepared, and bring the music, in the key you will sing it. An accompanist will be provided. You will also be led in a simple dance call to see how you move with music. These auditions are primarily for children under 12, but teens and adults are also welcome to attend. Children from about age five through early teens are needed for roles in The Sound of Music and Will Rogers Follies. These are important roles that require the children to learn dialogue, songs and do some basic dance moves. The role of Little Inez in Hairspray is still open; and may be played by a teen-age or small young adult African American girl. Little Inez has dialogue, and also sings and dances. Mac-Haydn casting staff are also looking for Connie Wong in A Chorus Line. This role requires a petite Asian girl with good dance ability. If interested in any of these roles, please attend this audition. Please prepare one song and a short monologue for the older roles. For further information, please contact: Casting, at machaydn@fairpoint.net. The Mac-Haydn Theatre Ruby Jubilee 40th Anniversary Season opens May 22, with “My Fair Lady”, running through June 1. The season also includes “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, June 5 through 15; “A Chorus Line”, June 19 through 29; “Hairspray”, July 3 through 20; “Phantom” (by Kopit & Yeston), July 24 through August 3; “Will Rogers Follies”, August 7 through 17, and closes with “The Sound of Music”, August 21 through 31. We will be looking for company members as described above, and for people to be "extras" in main stage and children’s theatre shows, as well as young people for our apprentice and intern programs. Please be aware that if you are chosen to be in a show it will be a large time commitment, as rehearsals take place during the day and evening. Shows rehearse for the two weeks preceding the performances; there are 15 performances of each show, with one weekday and two weekend matinees and either four or five evening performances each week. Please be prepared with a song, preferably from a classic or traditional musical, and have music in your key (may only hear 16 bars, depending on number of auditionees). An accompanist will be provided. Also please have a short (1-minute or less) light or comedic monologue. Bring clothing and shoes to move in, for a short, simple dance call.
